We stand up for the environment.

We protect open space, wild lands, and wildlife.

We’re passionate about protecting the ocean, wild lands, and wildlife. We leverage the California Coastal Act, California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), and other zoning and environmental laws to help clients preserve open space, advocate for our coastline, and protect California air, water, plants, and animals.

We advocate for responsible land use.

We know how it feels to love and want to protect a place. We represent community members who oppose irresponsible land use decisions or face neighbor or real estate disputes with advising, advocacy before local government agencies, and in settlement negotiations and litigation.

We fight for environmental justice.

We work to ensure that everyone has healthy places to live, work, play, and learn. We help clients from Black and Indigenous communities, communities of color, and low income neighborhoods use environmental and civil rights laws to make sure that cities, counties, and other public agencies reduce pollution, clean up toxic waste, provide clean air and water, and protect our communities. We advocate for historically excluded communities in local government permitting processes and in lawsuits against public agencies.

We also offer support to Indigenous people and tribes in local permitting and CEQA processes and use the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) and historic preservation laws to ensure that local governments protect important Native American cultural sites.

Our Environmental Law Services

We often initially research the law and advise individuals and organizations on the best way to protect open space, land, plants, or animals, advocate for American Indigenous rights, or fight environmental injustice.

We represent clients opposing development projects before government councils, boards, and legislative bodies in the development review process and at public hearings. When it’s appropriate, we’ll negotiate with landowners, developers, and government bodies to come up with a solution or compromise. We also sue developers and government entities to ensure they comply with their obligations to protect people and the environment.

We provide support for land use matters on an hourly basis.
