We Help Employees Reclaim Their Power
Employees seek our expertise when they’re balancing work and health conditions, pregnancy, or challenging life events. Or they reach out when, despite their excellent performance and professionalism, they’ve been subjected to biased comments or behavior. Our clients are often worried about taking action, but know they need an expert in their corner.
That’s where we come in. We understand the nuances of employment law, support clients with emotionally-intelligent advice, and hold employers accountable. We help our clients understand and advocate for their rights without burning bridges, so they can protect their careers and their wellbeing.
We champion the rights of people facing discrimination and harassment at work.
We help high achieving employees stand up to discrimination and harassment. We’ve represented California employees who excel at their jobs only to be subjected to racist comments and termination, who get laid off after announcing they’re pregnant despite stellar performance, who are pushed out because of a serious health condition, are fired after coming out, or who have been targeted for standing up for their or others’ rights. We provide compassionate, direct advising, help identify solutions that are best for our clients, and zealously hold employers accountable for violating our clients’ civil rights.
We support caregivers navigating pregnancy and leave at work.
We’re passionate about supporting pregnant workers, caregivers, and parents so they can care for themselves and their families and shine at work. We help our clients use reasonable accommodations during pregnancy and postpartum, protect their right to pump, take time off to care for new family members or loved ones dealing with serious illnesses, and fight pregnancy discrimination and harassment.
We help employees with health issues understand and advocate for their rights.
We love supporting people with health concerns, chronic illnesses, mental health issues, and disabilities. We help people understand and ask for reasonable accommodations; navigate leaves of absence under the California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other disability rights laws; and implement solutions for disability discrimination and harassment, so they can take good care of themselves and excel at work.
We advise and advocate for employees who are offered severance.
We make sure severance agreements are fair, coach clients through the negotiation process, and negotiate increased severance and health insurance benefits. When employers refuse to engage, we help our clients assess whether to walk away from a severance offer and pursue legal action.
We specialize in supporting employees who have been offered severance after experiencing discrimination, retaliation, or harassment at work.
Our Employment Law Services
We’re compassionate, gentle, and direct with clients, but tough on those who violate their rights.
We provide an array of services to California employees.
-
We often ask clients what is most in service of their healing, and use their answer as our guide. We help our clients understand their legal rights, weigh their options, and identify and implement a plan that’s right for them. We support our clients as they assert their rights and resolve issues in a way that’s respectful, manageable, and empowering. In many cases, employers never know we’re involved.
-
When it’s appropriate, we advocate for our clients in negotiations without ever going to court. We ensure employers respect our clients’ rights, provide reasonable accommodations, fair severance payments, and work toward resolutions in discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases. We tailor our approach - from working collaboratively to tenaciously advocating - to our clients’ specific needs, relationships with their employers, and goals.
-
We are relentless in holding employers accountable under civil rights laws, including California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Pregnancy Disability Leave, as well as the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Pregnant Workers’ Fairness Act, the PUMP Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We push for positive change and fight for fair compensation through administrative complaints and litigation.
